Environmental policy

At Huuray, the environment is a top priority. With our established environmental policy, we have a firm management of our environmental impact and a dedicated effort to limit our negative environmental footprint.
It is built into all choices in Huuray’s management system that we must both be aware of our environmental footprint and make choices (both short-term and long-term) that contribute positively to increased sustainability in our business as a whole as well as in our organisation.

Concrete environmental policies we have implemented include:

  • Choosing electricity supply from renewable energy sources
  • Our production of physical gift cards has switched to printing on paper that is
100% chlorine-free, FSC or PEFC certified, EU Ecolabel labelled and carbon neutral.
  • All air travel by our employees is 100% climate compensated and with
    biofuel whenever possible.
  • All waste is sorted and sent for recycling (when possible).
  • Disposable plastic bottles in the office have been eliminated and replaced by a personalised
drink bottle for each employee made from recycled plastic.
  • The delivery of physical gift cards to our customers is globally carbon offset
(including via the UPS Carbon Neutral product)
  • Company cars are exclusively electric cars

Our environmental policy is evaluated quarterly and development opportunities are reviewed while implementation is ongoing.
Our environmental goal is to reduce our environmental impact by at least 12% per year and develop tools to measure our environmental impact every single day. measure our environmental impact on every single gift card we issue, whether digitally or physically delivered. A measurement method that will inform us as an organisation, our customers about their purchases and gift card recipients about their gift.

Environmental Management System

Introduction

At Huuray we are committed to environmental sustainability.
This policy sets the overall direction and goals for environmental management in the Huuray organisation.
Huuray commits to reduce our total environmental impact by at least 12% year-on-year and to develop tools that enable us to measure the environmental impact of every single gift or gift card we issue, whether digitally or physically delivered. A measurement method that will inform us as an organisation, our customers about their purchases and gift card recipients about their gifts.

Our EMS also covers the identification of hazardous materials and/or procedures that may occur in the production of our products and services, including the procedure to ensure that our employees are always well-informed and alert.

It has been identified that at Huuray we leave an environmental impact in the following areas:
A. Production of physical gift cards (materials, machinery, shipping, waste management)
B. Production of digital gift cards (energy consumption)
C. Office space (energy consumption, waste)
D. Staff consumption (food, drinks)
E. Travel and entertainment (transport)

Implementation and procedures

A:
The main materials used in production are: energy, paper, inks, shipping and waste. Energy must come from renewable energy.
Paper must be sourced as 100% chlorine-free, FSC or PEFC certified, EU Ecolabelled and CO2 neutral.
Inks should be purchased as EU Ecolabelled whenever possible.
Shipping must be climate compensated and preferably CO2 neutral.
Waste from production must be handled and sorted in the correct containers to ensure proper handling and recycling where possible.

B:
Energy must come from renewable energy and Huuray’s cloud server suppliers must have an appropriate EMS in place policies to lower their consumption of energy from the servers located in the EU.

C:
Energy must come from renewable energy and all waste must be properly sorted and placed in proper containers to ensure it can be recycled.

D:
Drinks/water shall be provided to Huuray staff in personalised reusable containers made of renewable plastic.
It is mandatory for Huuray staff to cancel their planned lunch with at least 1 day’s notice. This is to ensure that only the relevant portions of the lunch are delivered to the Huuray office, thereby minimising food waste.

E:
All air travel by Huuray employees should be climate compensated and preferably be made with biofuel if possible.
It is stated that travelling should only be done if an online meeting is not possible or deemed appropriate in the relevant situation.
Company cars in Huuray must run 100% on electricity.

Monitoring and metering

The Huuray EMS Manager is tasked with monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Huuray KEI and overseeing that Huuray is moving towards its environmental goals.
This includes tracking Huuray’s energy consumption, waste generation, water consumption and other relevant metrics. The data is collected and analysed to identify trends, assess performance and identify areas for improvement.

Evaluation and compliance

Huuray regularly evaluates its compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and other requirements. This may involve internal audits to identify deviations and implement corrective actions to resolve any identified issues.

Continuous improvement

Huuray’s environmental management system is a dynamic system that aims for an annual improvement of environmental performance. Huuray identifies opportunities for improvement based on monitoring results, audit results and feedback from Huuray’s stakeholders. Steps are taken to implement these improvements and track their effectiveness.

Training and information

To ensure that Huuray EMS is implemented correctly and that all Huuray personnel are properly informed, Huuray EMS is informed and reinforced with at least 2 sessions per year to all employees.
The EMS policy is also available to all employees in the Huuray Elivio system.
Huuray employees are continuously trained in the environmental aspects of Huuray’s services/products and are encouraged to participate in Huuray’s KEI.

Deviations

If deviations from the Huuray EMS are identified, a Huuray employee is obliged to report the incident in the Huuray Elivio system.
The Huuray EMS responsible (COO) will initiate relevant actions based on the reported deviations.
